About Nagaland
Nagaland, the 16th State of the Indian Union, was formally inaugurated on December 1, 1963. The State is bordered by Assam to the west, Myanmar (Burma) to the east, Arunachal Pradesh, and parts of Assam to the north, and Manipur to the south.
Comprising 17 administrative districts, Nagaland is home to 15 major Naga tribes — Angami, Ao, Chakhesang, Chang, Khiamniungan, Konyak, Lotha, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, Sangtam, Sumi, Tikhir, Yimkhiung, and Zeliang — along with four non-Naga tribes: Kuki, Kachari, Garo, and Mikir. Each tribe has its own distinct traditions, dialects, and attire, together representing the vibrant cultural tapestry of the State.
